The Challenge

With the challenges presented by COVID-19, staff can experience stress and fatigue around work and family life. This stress and fatigue can often link to muscular tension.

An easy way to tell if you're experiencing muscular tension is to ask yourself questions such as:

- Does my body feel tense?

- Are my shoulders tight?

- Am I feeling tired at work?

If you answered "yes" to those questions, then it is possible that you're experiencing muscular tension.

Fatigue is often linked to muscular tension, and this is because the energy that we usually use to perform physical jobs, is locked away in tight muscle groups.

Having a massage at work stretches those muscle groups, releasing the energy contained causing us to feel good. Those good feelings are a result of good chemicals in our body being released.

The Solution

As a simple exercise, try this:

  • Stretch your arms, and see how you feel.

By stretching tight muscle groups, you can release the energy locked away and help you feel better and more energised, which can lead to a productivity and efficiency in the workplace.

But is all of this that important?

Tense bodies can become less agile and responsive, allowing for more accidents and injuries. Tense minds are more rigid and less likely to find efficient solutions to the problems your staff are tackling. For example, the maths skills we have walk out the door when we're sleep deprived, and a stressful day can often cause us to forget where we put our car keys or phone.

Experiencing a 15-20 minute massage allows us to return to work with a clear head so that we can perform better, stay engaged with our colleagues and clients, and avoid mistakes.

The Results

Massage Therapy at work has been shown to reduce anxiety and is very effective in the treatment of stress and depression. Certified professional massage therapy can make employees happier, and happier employees make for better workplaces.
